Does it post on its own?
No. A clip is only ever posted after you press Approve on it in the review page, one clip at a time. There is a setting for automatic posting and it is off, and even with it on a clip still has to pass the profile's own quality floor. If you never open the review page, nothing is ever published.
Do you need my TikTok password?
No, and you should never give it. Connecting an account opens TikTok's own login page in your browser. TikTok hands the tool an access token afterwards. The password is typed into TikTok and is never seen by DidYouClipThat.
Where is my data kept?
On your computer. The downloaded stream, the transcript, the rendered clips and the access token all live in the program folder. There is no DidYouClipThat account and no server that stores your footage. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
What does it upload, and where?
Only the mp4 file of a clip you approved, and only to the accounts you connected yourself: your TikTok account through the Content Posting API, and your YouTube channel as a Short if you enabled that. The caption it sends is the one shown on the clip in the review page.
How do I disconnect it?
Two ways, either is enough. In TikTok, open Settings, Security and permissions, Manage app permissions, and remove DidYouClipThat. On your computer, delete the token file in the program's secrets folder. After that the tool can do nothing with the account until you connect it again.
Does it work with any stream?
It takes YouTube and Kick VODs. It needs speech: a stream that is mostly gameplay noise with little talking gives it nothing to anchor a clip on. Length is not a problem, and you can point it at a range inside a long stream rather than the whole thing.
Can it clip someone else's stream?
That is between you and the rights holder. Plenty of streamers run clip campaigns and ask for exactly this; plenty of others do not allow it. The tool does not check, and the Terms of Service put that responsibility on you.
Why is my post private when I did not choose that?
TikTok limits apps that have not passed its audit: everything they post lands as private, visible only to the account owner, whatever the app asks for. The review page says so in its header when that is the case. Once the app is audited, the clip goes out with the privacy setting you picked.
What does it cost?
Nothing. It is a personal tool, it is not sold and there is no subscription. It runs on hardware you already own and on API access you grant to your own accounts.
Does the website track me?
No. This site has no analytics, no cookies and no third party scripts. The fonts are served from this domain, not from a font provider.
